Global Take

With the pandemic putting to a halt to most international travel, many international schools have turned to virtual competitions in order to keep their students engaged. Virtual competitions for athletics have come in the form of collecting times and scores from individual schools and combining them to crown a virtual champion in sports, whereas academic competitions have thrived online as schools are able to virtually meet and interact.

We will discuss some of the most successful and engaging competitions that they have been a part of but most importantly we will focus on the future of virtual competitions for international schools. Will some events only be online? Will virtual athlete events fade away when travel returns or will they only continue to grow?

Our guests on this episode of Global Take include Todd Parham (Director of Activities, American Community School Amman), Mohamad Hourani (Athletics & Activities Director, American Community School Beirut) and Freddie Badillo (Director of Athletics and Co-Curricular Activities, The Columbus School). Hosted by Nick DeForest (Assistant Director of the Events Office, American International School Vienna).
