Breaking Barriers: Equity in School Leadership | Educators Without Borders
Research continues to reveal that there is a significant disparity in representation by people of color and women in school leadership roles around the world. Studies commonly report that 80% of school Principals, Assistant Principals, Directors, Superintendents and other education leaders are Caucasian and/or men. If schools endeavor to ensure equitable practices in their work with students, it is only more critical that diversity is a priority of change efforts when recruiting and supporting leaders. What are the practices that will influence measurable change in this area? How can we “move the dial” towards authentic and widespread diverse representation in school leadership roles?
