Global Take

In this episode of Global Take the panel will focus on an article written by Laura Davies and Sadie Hollins in March of 2021 called “If you can see it, you can be it: The visibility of female coaches in international school team sport”. They wrote the article after conducting a survey that included various key stakeholders such as Athletic Directors, Heads of PE, PE teachers, Administrators, and more.

There are lots of great programmes and opportunities in international schools for girls to play sport, both locally and internationally. The girls’ teams get the same opportunities to train and play and are included in all events. However, there still seems to be a disparity when it comes to who coaches the female teams. Why is that the case and does it matter?

The panel will discuss these questions and more on this episode of Global Take. JoinCatherine Tanco Ong (Director for Student Activities, Brent International School Manila), John Powell (Activities & Athletics Director, American School of Brasilia), and Mariana de Carvalho (PE Teacher and Coach, St.Johns International School). Hosted by Nick DeForest (Assistant Director of the Events Office, American International School Vienna).
