Among the sport and recreation areas, the school has a synthetic soccer field, covered basketball and volleyball courts, early childhood and elementary playgrounds and a student’s common area. The qualities that have attracted families are:
Family-like atmosphere
Individualized attention to students
Bilingual program
USA curriculum
Accredited with the Guatemalan Ministry of Education
Fundación Educativa Guatemala is the owner of the school property and in charge of all capital development projects. Fundación Educativa Guatemala appoints the Board of Directors. Fundación Educativa Guatemala was created in 1979 by the founders of Colegio Interamericano with the objective of contributing to the development of the country through education. The Foundation is integrated by fiduciaries who manage the foundation through the Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors holds the school in trust and is responsible for ensuring that the school continues to fulfill the mission adopted by the Board. Through its standing committees, the Board develops and oversees the school’s strategic plan, maintains the financial health of the institution, seeks current and long-term philanthropic support, ensures that the physical campus is adequate to support the mission, monitors the progress and success of the educational program and sees to it that the Board follows accepted best practices of non-profit institutional governance.
The majority of current Directors are parents of students enrolled in Colegio Interamericano. Others are parents of former students and still others are alumni themselves and/or friends of the school.
