The American School of Bombay is a college preparatory, co educational independent day school from Pre-K through Grade 12. ASB is a kaleidoscope of tradition, culture, values, and ethnicity. Every major world religion and most modern languages are represented within our community and spoken on our campus. We are a village of people from over 50 countries, with one educator for every six students. So, what holds this world of plurality together? It is our community's drive to fulfill our mission. The American School of Bombay is a mission-driven international school in Mumbai. We know who we are, we know what we have committed ourselves to. With authenticity and enthusiasm, we endeavor to keep the promise set forth in our Mission Statement: to inspire all of our students to continuous inquiry, empowering them with the skills, courage, optimism, and integrity to pursue their dreams and enhance the lives of others. Today, ASB is a vanguard school in 21st-century education. It is a community of children and adults encouraged to take risks and stand tall when faced with adversity. It is a place where we care about each other and where we try to make a difference in our world. It is an international school where inquiry, empowerment, dreaming, and service are framed with joy.
The school is managed by the American School of Bombay Education Trust set up under the terms and conditions laid down by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi. The school is governed by a Board of Trustees elected by the parents and faculty for a two-year term. The American Consul General is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees is composed of eleven community members - eight are elected, two are appointed by the Board Chairman. The Board oversees the governance and direction of the school by holding regular meetings, retreats, and being actively involved in committee work. ASB is organized and operated on a non-profit basis. Virtually all operating revenues are generated from the student fees. The school receives limited assistance from the United States government in the form of an annual grant. The Head of School is the Chief Executive Officer who is directly responsible to the Board of Trustees. The Head of School is aided by the Deputy Head of School, Principals of the Elementary, Middle, and High Schools, Chief Operating Officer, and Director of Institutional Advancement. This group forms the leadership team at ASB.The Elementary, Middle, and High School Principals are the educational leaders in their division and responsible for the short and long-term goals of the school, as well as the day-to-day management of the school.
