Beijing BISS International School was founded in 1994 by its sister school, ISS International School in Singapore, as an independent proprietary, co-educational, English-language day school offering an international curriculum for Pre-Kindergarten - Grade 12 students from the expatriate community of Beijing. The 11,000 square meter campus is conveniently located near major expatriate residential areas in central Beijing, located just of the North of Third Ring Road, close to the Olympic Games Village.
Defining characteristics of BISS include: a caring, personalized learning environment enabled by excellent faculty, small class and school size, and the active nurturing of a student-centred school climate. The school offers a world-class curriculum via the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) in conjunction with a comprehensive, inclusive extra-activities programme.
Ching Oi Chan is the Chief Executive Officer of the ISS Education Group that comprises the International School of Singapore (ISS), the Centre of American Education (based in Singapore) and the Beijing BISS International School. She has been the Chairperson of the BISS School Board since its founding in 1994.
The school has had a stable governance structure spanning over 20 years in Beijing and almost 40 years when including our "mother" school, ISS International School in Singapore; a diverse community of learners (students, parents and faculty) from approximately 30 countries, who support each other and thrive from learning together.
