ISB is a collaborative learning community that inspires, equips and empowers its students to succeed and contribute positively to society. ISB has been providing a quality education to the international community in Belgrade since 1948. ISB students represent diverse cultural and national backgrounds, and share a commitment and passion to learning. Our challenging and diverse programs offer a quality international education with a global perspective. ISB relies on innovative and best instructional practice to ensure we address the varying learning styles of our students. Our students regularly gain entrance into competitive universities worldwide or successfully transition to other elementary or secondary schools along their educational paths. Our teachers are dedicated professionals, a majority holding multiple or masters degrees in their areas of specialization. Their teaching is inspiring, student-centered and individualized, and their involvement in coaching and co-curricular activities provides a nurturing environment for students to excel in the arts, athletics, student government and service learning. Our dynamic curriculum is based on the highly regarded International Baccalaureate Diploma, Middle and Primary Years programs. Like all quality international schools, ISB is accredited by several educational agencies: the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the Council of International Schools. We are an authorized IB World School where students learn to implement change with compassion and creativity in a complex global environment.
The International School of Belgrade is governed by a Board of Trustees that is guided by the ISB School Charter. Article V of the Charter describes the governance of the school and below is a summary of the School Board’s responsibilities and member composition. The School Board shall consist of no less than seven members and no more than ten. Three members shall be appointed by the U.S. Ambassador, one of which shall be the Treasurer. A minimum of two and a maximum of five members shall be elected from the membership. Elections will be managed in an effort to reach the maximum of five elected members. The Board may choose to appoint up to two additional members. At least one member of the Board – either elected or appointed – must be a Serbian citizen. The Board shall not appoint the same member for more than 3 consecutive years. Elected members may not serve for more than 3 consecutive terms (6 years).
